Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital (ESJH) is a 410 bed acute care hospital founded in 1880 making it Atlanta’s second oldest hospital. It is located in the northern arc of Atlanta situated in one of the most populated areas in Georgia right down the street from Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital of Atlanta another resident rotation location. This allows for unsurpassed local and regional patient access being situated near two major highways. It also is Emory Urology’s latest addition to our clinical rotation. Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital was the first hospital in Georgia to acquire daVinci robots and presently has three Si units including one dual console and trainer installed for our urology residency program. Robotic urology procedures routinely performed include: prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, ureteral re-implantation, nephro-uretectomy, RPLND, and retroperitoneal mass excisions. The OR has 25 rooms (19 main floor, 6 cardiac and 4 outpatient rooms). The cystoscopy suite has a dedicated fluoroscopy bed and in-house holmium laser with recently updated flexible ureteroscopes. Shock wave lithotripsy is also available.
Our brand new outpatient office is conveniently located on the ESJH main campus and houses 7 outpatient and 2 endoscopy/treatment rooms. The full spectrum of outpatient services are offered including digital cystoscopy, vasectomy, ultrasound guided prostate biopsy and minor surgical procedures. We have a dedicated ultrasound for kidney, bladder, scrotal and prostate evaluation.
This clinic office also the location of our Emory Prostate Cancer Multi-disciplinary Clinic where patients are seen by a urologist, radiation oncologist and if necessary a medical oncologist at the same visit. This efficient clinic is the only of its kind in Georgia and is backed by our Winship Cancer Institute (National Cancer Institute/NIH designation) which also has a presence at ESJH. This allows access to treatment options including robotic surgery, brachytherapy (HDR and LDR), external beam therapy and chemotherapy infusion.
